Shifting identities and the quest for love and acceptance inspire This Crazy Show, a provocative new work from Noam Gagnon, Artistic Director of Vision Impure. Eccentric, entertaining and wildly theatrical, This Crazy Show explores of how our bodies and sense of self can continuously morph and evolve, through a vivid blend of dance, music, text, film and design. Gagnon’s own performance is a tour de force of irresistible charm and physical power, taking the audience on a breathless and fantastical ride.

Gagnon is joined on stage by an accordion player and a mysterious figure inspired by the legendary performance artist and designer Leigh Bowery. “I wanted to make a work about transformation – to create a landscape where bodies, identity, gender are all shifting,” says Gagnon, “and to capture that childhood conviction that anything is possible, even magic and superheroes.” The show’s dazzling stage and sound design includes a long platinum blonde wig, a cluster of disco balls, and clips from cult ‘70s TV show The Bionic Woman.  The creative team includes circus/mime/theatre director Danielle Lecourtois, dramaturge James Fagan Tait, and composer James Coomber. This Crazy Show premiered in May 2016 in Ottawa.
