DESCRIPTION:Piña is an interdisciplinary dance work created in collaboration with weavers\, costume designers\, musicians\, lighting designers and the body. Through deep introspection the work addresses Artistic Director Ralph Escamillan’s diasporic background as a first-generation Canadian-born Filipinx. The work explores the parallels between his body and Piña – a traditional Philippine fibre made from pineapple leaves. \nThis informal sharing of work in progress will include a talkback with members of the artistic team. \n

DESCRIPTION:A day of free events\, both live and online\, celebrating the art of dance. Highlights include Shot of Scotch Vancouver\, students from Gladstone Secondary School’s dance program\, VDCM Dance Collective\, Liat & Friends\, and an immersive audio/dance walk by Alana Gerecke. The date commemorates the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810)\, regarded as the founder of modern ballet.
