SUMMARY:Wen Wei Dance
DESCRIPTION:A creative collaboration between Wen Wei Wang (Choreographer & Performer) and Gary James Joynes (Composer & Live Audio Visuals). \nWen Wei Wang began dancing in China\, where the expressive language of the hands\, arms\, and upper body shaped his artistic voice. As he grew older\, he came to understand that his sexuality was different\, a realization that deeply influenced his life and creative journey. Now\, returning to the stage as a senior artist\, he reflects on memory\, mortality\, and the connection between body\, mind\, and the universe. Through this final solo work\, he invites audiences to contemplate aging\, transformation\, vulnerability\, and resilience. \nPost-show artist talkback October 24 \nPROGRAM

SUMMARY:Compagnie Catherine Gaudet
DESCRIPTION:DanceHouse opens its 2026/27 season with the Vancouver premiere of Compagnie Catherine Gaudet’s latest contemporary dance work\, ODE. \nChoreographed by the company’s Artistic Director\, Catherine Gaudet\, the hour-long work––part pop-rock concert\, part ritualistic ceremony––channels the industrial happiness complex into a stripped-down exhortation on group-think conformity and cultural collapse. Drawing from therapy-speak\, self-help books\, and new-age TED talks\, ODE explores our society’s pressure to perform relentless positivity at all costs\, ultimately cracking under pressure Gaudet is the winner of the 2022 Grand Prix de la danse de Montréal and has become renowned for her razor-sharp commentary on social conventions\, expressed through micro-movements and rhythmic expressions to reveal our innermost emotions and sensations

SUMMARY:soma anima arts
DESCRIPTION:Bright Shadow invites us into a world suspended between hope and despair\, where utopia and dystopia exist side by side. Through contemporary dance\, live music\, spoken word and immersive digital imagery\, the performance asks a shared question: What kind of world do we want to build together? \nInspired by Carl Jung’s idea of the Golden Shadow\, the work explores the hidden potential within humanity and the light that emerges when we face uncertainty with imagination and care. Audience members are not only witnesses but participants: interactive technologies allow their presence and choices to influence the evolving visual world in real time. \nFluid\, tender movement meets fractured\, restless imagery\, reflecting the tensions and possibilities of our times. As the performance unfolds\, Bright Shadow becomes a living dialogue between bodies\, technology and community; a reminder that the future is not fixed\, but shaped collectively\, moment by moment.

SUMMARY:tiger princess dance projects
DESCRIPTION:  \nAll That Is Between is an ensemble work by Yvonne Ng | 黄碧琬 for five dancers. Inspired by a moment of stillness within the chaos of travel\, the choreography unfolds through quiet\, attentive interactions where proximity\, distance\, and subtle gestures reveal the shifting space between isolation and connection. With nuanced physicality and an evocative score\, the work invites audiences to consider how individual presence shapes a collective atmosphere\, and how meaning\, care\, and tension emerge through the spaces we hold together.
