SUMMARY:Idan Cohen/ Ne. Sans Opera & Dance
DESCRIPTION:  \nMeticulously crafted and suffused with musicality\, Idan Cohen’s exquisite creations emerge from the intersection of opera\, music\, and contemporary dance. This performance will feature two works. About Time is a duet set to the haunting piano music of Philip Glass\, a powerful response to a fractured world where the overwhelming flood of information becomes a vehicle for conflict rather than connection; it seeks a path towards human compassion and understanding. The program also includes a sneak peek of excerpts from Cohen’s new work in development Bach Dances\, which reimagines Bach’s famous solo Cello Suites through dance.

SUMMARY:Compagnie KHOR / Khoudia Touré
DESCRIPTION:Following human journeys and the places they cross\, Óró features street dancers from Dakar\, Paris and Vancouver. They explore notions of shadow\, identity and hope\, telling a story beyond words. \nÓró asks how dance can be a place of symbols and ideas\, a trajectory from the individual to the collective. Khoudia’s discovery of Hip Hop goes back to her childhood\, a time when it became a political and cultural force for Senegalese youth. She created Compagnie KHOR to connect the show on stage with actions anchored in real life and community. \nPresented with New Works Dance\, Community Partner: Alliance Française Vancouver

SUMMARY:Ame Henderson Projects + Provincija
DESCRIPTION:Collaborating across borders and disciplines\, Canadian choreographer Ame Henderson and Croatian director Matija Ferlin are known for their playfully rigorous conceptual performances. In this new duet\, they play with light and darkness to explore the felt experience of endings – political\, social and personal ones. The “snap to black” and the revealed tableaux that follow become a motif exposing the impossibility of controlling the narrative. From endless endings gradually emerges the feeling of a beginning.

SUMMARY:Isak Enquist
DESCRIPTION:Fall(se) Circ(us) will explore the notion of rebellion against everyday complacency through shifting cycles of “work” and “rest\,” inviting improvised movement as a form of resistance. Enquist’s experimental movement language – a combination of Martial Arts\, snowboarding style\, and experimental floor work – will be embodied by an ensemble of seven local performing artists. \nAt its core\, Fall(se) Circ(us) seeks to subvert expectations\, transforming a traditional performance space into a shared celebration with audience members.
