Joshua Beamish returns to his home town for his first performance in five years with his piece Saudade, named after a Portuguese word which translates as: nostalgia; longing; missing; yearning.
Investigating loss, memory, and the deep longing for something unattainable, the work features six outstanding male dancers merging elegant balletic lines with street-style dynamism and drive, conjuring up fleeting intimacies in a series of ghostly solos, duets, and group passages, accompanied by a hauntingly beautiful cello score.
