Kasandra Flamenco is thrilled to present “FLAMENCO AROUND THE MAP – De Ida Y Vuelta!”, fiery Flamenco dance with a Latin American twist. This dance journey chronicles how flamenco music was influenced by Cuba and Argentina, as Vancouver’s bailaora Kasandra “La China” dances six flamenco dances including the Guajiras, Colombianas & Rumba from Cuba and also the lesser known Vidalita and Milongas from Argentina. The music in the show features all original compositions by Josue Tacoronte, award-winning flamenco guitarist-composer from Havana, who stars in the show with Afro-Cuban Flamenco percussionist, Davide Sampaolo. Father of Vancouver Flamenco, Maestro Oscar Nieto navigates us through the history of music, rhythm and “compas”! Experience the Kasandra Flamenco Ensemble, a group that has been dubbed “a feast for the eyes and ears with an energy that flows like water and skips like fire”.
