This dance double bill features solos from 2021 Chutzpah! Festival resident artists Ne.Sans Opera & Dance and Alexis Fletcher.
Alexis returns with the Vancouver premiere of her stunning new solo performance, light in the rafters, which integrates movement with the visual art of Vancouver painter and HIV/AIDS activist Tiko Kerr.
In the world premiere of their work Solo for Orpheus, Ne.Sans Opera and Dance artistic director Idan Cohen draws inspiration from the myth of Orpheus as well as Gluck’s opera Orfeo ed Euridice to create a contemporary comment on Orpheus as the mimesis of an artist. Solo for Orpheus examines the struggles of the performance artist as they face the difficulties presented by COVID times, embodied by solo artist Ted Littlemore.
