Performance | Global Dance Connections series
Dumb Instrument Dance
An exciting world premiere from choreographer Ziyian Kwan, Rebel Grace explores the concept of rupture and repair as intrinsic actions within life’s many cycles. Tracing the lustre and poetry of imperfection, the work is driven by the creative prowess of an outstanding cast of dance artists including Kwan and collaborators Lisa Gelley and Andrea Nann. They explore the rhythm and rhyme of imagery, text and movement – in conversation with the innovative sounds of Taiko artist Kage and multi-instrumentalist Roxanne Nesbitt, who perform live. This thoughtful and timely work springs from Kwan’s dedicated intersectional ethos, intellectual rigour and striking aesthetic sensibility.
