In-person only: $150+GST=$157.5 for 10 classes.
Registration opens in late August/early September.
This movement class starts with gentle stretching to warm up the body. Then we pick up the pace and have fun moving through various contemporary and creative dance, focusing on coordination and rhythm. After exploring movements, the class ends with a final stretch.
All 55+ bodies welcome.
All levels welcome, including beginners!

Virginia Duivenvoorden
Virginia Duivenvoorden is a professional performer, educator, and choreographer whose work spans stage, screen, and site-specific performance. A graduate of the European Dance Development Centre (now ArtEZ University of the Arts) in the Netherlands, she began her career with Karen Jamieson Dance Company. Her teaching is informed by her own experience of regaining mobility through dance after multiple diagnoses and injuries, bringing a deep appreciation for the joy and transformative power of movement.
Claire French
Claire French is grateful to have taught movement and dance for over three decades internationally in professional, pre-professional, educational, and community outreach contexts. A teacher for the Power of Dance program since 2021, Claire is inspired by the participants, fuelling her energetic, passionate, and attentive approach. Her dance background is a deeply embodied assortment of styles and she continues developing and crafting her unique approach through her teaching and choreographic practice.
She is a choreographer, collaborator, and artistic co-director with composer James Maxwell, of the interdisciplinary project-based company Restless Productions. She has spent many years studying, researching, lecturing and collaborating in interdisciplinary contexts, adding valuable perspective to her creative trajectory. She earned a Practice as Research PhD in Dance (University of Chichester, UK) in 2022. Claire is a sought-after mentor, outside eye, rehearsal director, and facilitator. She is also honoured to be the host of The Dance Centre podcast.
Kay Huang
Kay Huang is a choreographer, educator, and dance artist living in the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Salish, Musqueam and Tsleil-Waututh Nations known as Vancouver. She danced professionally with Karen Jamieson from 1987-1996. As a choreographer, her creations have been featured in Vancouver BC as well as internationally since 1991. She is a faculty member at Arts Umbrella for almost 30 years. She has piloted many dance outreach programs in Vancouver BC, including the Downtown East Side, Down Syndrome Research Foundation, ISS, Vancouver School Board, and the Surrey School Board. She founded Crossmaneuver in 2011 as a vehicle for young artists to be trained and to participate in interdisciplinary works of art.
As a dance instructor, she is known to be inspiring and joyful, who is deeply committed to the growth of her students.
Isabelle Kirouac
Isabelle Kirouac is a dance artist, choreographer, educator, and community-engaged facilitator. She has been sharing her artistic practice with children, youth and families for over 20 years. Her dance classes are informed by her practice in dance improvisation and explores movements and choreographic ideas that are accessible to people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
Lorraine White-Wilkinson
Lorraine is a passionate and sensitive teacher who is currently researching the benefits of dance for older populations.
Her focus is on teaching dance as a way of tapping into physical & mental health, as an invitation to explore artistic expression, as well as a venue for community building.
She holds an MA in Arts Education, BA Honours degree in Dance, and has over 30 years teaching experience.
