Piña is an interdisciplinary dance work created in collaboration with weavers, costume designers, musicians, lighting designers and the body. Through deep introspection the work addresses Artistic Director Ralph Escamillan’s diasporic background as a first-generation Canadian-born Filipinx. The work explores the parallels between his body and Piña – a traditional Philippine fibre made from pineapple leaves.
This informal sharing of work in progress will include a talkback with members of the artistic team.
