Sahabhāva is a Sanskrit word for coexistence, community, and coming together. This year’s Sahabhāva boasts a diverse range of dance and musical traditions from the subcontinent, brought alive here in Vancouver. This evening will feature: an Odissi recital by Sudhesna Mohapatra, an exploration of Hindustānī rāgas by Saanjh Jaura, accompanied by Sunny Matharu (tabla) and Mohan Bhide (harmonium), Gāmaka, a unique music-and-storytelling form presented by Harshini Seetharam with Shriram Rajagopalan (violin), and a special presentation on the tradition of Gurbāṇī Rāga Kīrtan, featuring Pavitar Singh Namdhari (vocals, taarshehnai), alongside Sunny Matharu (tabla), Didar Singh Namdhari (jori), and Gurcharan Singh (supporting vocals).
