Wolverine is about the notion of transforming between realms as the shapeshifter being that lives in the house beneath the waters. It is about celebrating all gender identities that identity with the concept of the Gitxsan nochnoch Wee sim no sik, and femme power through the context of prince hood. Wolverine is queer. How can this project restore the queer Adawk, stories since the time of the ice? This is a research-based project with an all-BIPOC femme or gender fluid collaborative team.
Gramma Harris print (limited edition)
The Gramma Harris limited edition silk screen print is dedicated to the artist’s kookum Margaret Harris. Margaret Harris was integral in revitalizing song and dance after the lifting of the Potlatch Ban and started the We Yah Hani Nah Festival in Prince Rupert in 1967. The artist’s mentor on the print, David Boxley Sr., was gifted songs by Raven’s grandparents Ken and Margaret Harris in his home community of Metlakatla, Alaska in the 80s. The festival continues today as the Coastal Dance Festival, produced by Raven’s family the Dancers of Damelahamid.
