Catenary is a collaborative work from choreographer Rebecca Margolick and violinist Hannah Epperson. A catenary is the curve that an idealized hanging rope assumes under its own weight when supported at its two ends. This is the foundational concept for the piece, which explores the centres of symmetry between the disciplines of music and dance, and between the poles of antagonism that define our social, economic and political reality. Catenary fuses, upsets and subverts the relationship between live music, dance, and futuristic sound design.
The artists will share an excerpt, and lead a conversation with the audience about the process.
Catenary is supported by Canada Council for the Arts, Island Mountain Arts, ArtsWells, and Banff Centre for the Arts.
