The Dance Centre’s 2023-2024 season presents a program of exciting performances and events by artists working across a wide range of genres. The Global Dance Connections series features Canadian and international choreographers, and the popular Discover Dance! series presents dance from diverse cultural backgrounds. Other highlights include the annual Scotiabank Dance Centre Open House featuring a new work by Isaac Gasangwa/Izo Dreamchaser, and residencies, research labs and projects throughout the season.

Nov 16-18 Stand Up Dance Anatomalia: anatomy + anomaly + femalia
Queer Canadian dance artist Meagan O’Shea’s adventurous international collaboration brings together dance, sound and design for a passionate collective healing of the damage done to ‘femalia’. DETAILS
Dec 7-9 Ebnflōh La Probabilité du Néant
Acclaimed Montreal troupe’s hip hop-rooted work deploys eight ferociously committed dancers, electrifying music and video in an insightful take on perceptions and choices. DETAILS
Jan 19-21 Tangaj Collective Ramanenjana
Witty and intriguing docufiction performance about a mysterious ‘dance epidemic’ in 19th century Madagascar, created by Simona Deaconescu (Romania) and Gaby Saranouffi (Madagascar). Presented with PuSh International Performing Arts Festival. DETAILS
Mar 14-16 Arno Schuitemaker If You Could See Me Now
Award-winning Dutch choreographer’s mesmerizing work takes a chilled-out club dance and reinvent it through incessant movement, rhythm and endurance. DETAILS
May 23-25 Danny Nielsen The New Standards
Canadian tap dance star Danny Nielsen collaborates with renowned musician Dan Reynolds to explore the symbiotic relationship between tap dance and jazz piano, in a celebration of tap and musical artistry. DETAILS
Sept 28 Classical Indian Dances in Focus
Experience two beautiful and contrasting styles of classical Indian dance, famed for their intricate movements, percussive rhythms and rich storytelling. DETAILS
Nov 9 Calle Verde + Jhoely Triana Flamenco
Local artists share their latest creations in a thrilling performance that showcases flamenco’s technical brilliance, emotional power, and heart-stirring music and singing. DETAILS
Feb 29 Voirelia Dance Hub
Contemporary dance company’s De/Formed Revival is inspired by Renaissance art and sculpture: three expressive, finely honed dancers take us on a journey of transformation. DETAILS
Mar 28 Aché Brasil
An explosion of colour, energy and music that embodies the exuberant culture and rhythms of Brazil, featuring folkloric Afro-Brazilian dances and the famous dance-martial art of capoeira. DETAILS
Apr 25 Dance//Novella
Innovative company founded by former Ballet BC artists Racheal Prince and Brandon Lee Alley, shares specially selected work from the repertoire. DETAILS
Sept 16 Scotiabank Dance Centre Open House
Experience a host of different dance styles, in an afternoon of free classes and events at Scotiabank Dance Centre. DETAILS
Sept 16 Isaac Gasangwa The African Dream
New work by Rwandan-born Isaac Gasangwa (aka Izo Dreamchaser) following the life of a young man growing up in the aftermath of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi people in Rwanda, and his determination to create a better world for the future. DETAILS
Apr 19-20 The Falling Company Family Room
New work recreates a studio apartment through innovative set design for a series of evocative solos which trace the relationship between different family members. DETAILS
April 29 International Dance Day
Free events as part of the worldwide celebration of dance initiated in 1982 by UNESCO. DETAILS
